When is competition valuable?

Posted on Jul 3rd, 2008 by Halal the Giraffe : Juicy Halal the Giraffe
This is in Response to the Questions and Reflections for July 03, 2008:

Interestingly, I learned just last week that when men are low in serotonin, a challenge, competition or a project will give them a dose of it.  So in the classroom, competition (handled well) can be a great thing for boys who need a brain boost.  In the same situation however, competition does not do as much (re: serotonin) for women.  They respond more to a dose of oxytocin -- via connection with others -- to raise their levels.
